| From Salt Creek,
north, the trail follows along the crystal clear waters of
Hermosa Creek. It is tranquil when the water is low, but a raging torrent in the spring, often covering the trail completely. |

Yours truly crossing Hermosa Creek near Big Bend Creek in the mid 60's. There were no fancy bridges then . There where some old wooden bridges in 1963, but they were washed out a few years later. After that it was not possible to complete the whole trip in the spring during high water without making a portage around the section between two of the bridges until new bridges were built years later.. |

Curtains of icicles hang from these and other cliffs in the winter. Cross country skiing the Hermosa Trail end-to-end is an experience you'll never forget. Of course, riding it is pretty awesome too. |
